Resistance to free trade agreements and other pillars of neoliberalism–as instruments of privatization, deregulation, dismantling social safety nets and more– has been growing as people feel the detrimental effects of fundamentally inadequate regimes of governance on their lives, livelihoods, and the environment around them. Women have been at the forefront of resistance efforts, informed by their experiences as the people most impacted by ‘successful’ neoliberal policies. Fighting for trade justice provides a way of addressing the concurrent escalation of militarism and ecological, care, and debt crises. This interactive workshop at the 15th AWID International Forum will use popular education tools and a series of short explainers unpacking key trade issues from a feminist perspective to help participants understand how issues they organize around are connected to global trade policies, why trade is a feminist issue, and chart a course toward an alternative economic system which is just for all.

Join us on 3 December 2024, 14:30–15:45 in Room 109GH of the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok, Thailand.
